Brighton was founded in the 1870s as a stage/railroad depot and farming community. Originally named Hughes Station, its name was later changed to Brighton after Brighton Beach.
The town is located on the edge of the eastern plains, 20 miles northeast of Denver. It’s known for its small-town atmosphere, relaxed pace and great quality of life. Often considered a suburb of Denver despite falling outside the official Denver metro area, Brighton is home to over 30,000 residents.
